I'm in the mood for some new authors. Any suggestions of authors and/or books that would suit a Palahniuk fanatic? TIA.

| What's with the ICP? |
[17 Nov 2008|11:10pm] |
|
What's the deal with the Insane Clown Posse? Every time I go to the Vancouver Westfield Mall, I see at least 3-5 people roaming the place in some sort of ICP clothing. They all look the same as well. Not to be too derogatory but they do look mentally deficient in some way. What attracts these people to this particular band and/or lifestyle of being a "Juggalo"? And why is Vancouver the only place I've been that has these people roaming the streets?

I really love this banner. :] It links to the first day of my life video. Which i thought was kind of cute... instead of going to the myspace page or something. A little different.

I hope there aren't community rules against these sort of things?

| I didn't realise they were inside the eye... |
[17 Nov 2008|05:29am] |
If you see small, fuzzy shapes when you look at a bright/plain background such as the sky or a computer screen, you are seeing "floaters." Floaters are tiny clumps of gel or cells that can be found in the vitreous fluid inside the eye. Since they are inside your eye, they move when you attempt to look at them.
It is a common cause of floaters, and it is more common for people who:
* have had inflammation inside the eye; * have undergone cataract surgery; * are nearsighted; * have had YAG laser surgery of the eye.

I live in an apartment and have no need to compost. At the same time I really hate tossing out stuff I know can go in a compost bin. So, what can I do with my coffee grounds, egg shells, tater skins etc other than putting them in the trash? Is there some place I can take them? Is there anyone who wants them? I live in Vancouver not to far from 1-5 and Fourth Plain.
Thanks folks!

Hello! Is anyone attending any of the upcoming Mystic Valley Band shows??? I am willing to send you the amount it costs to buy the Gentlemen's Pact EP that's only available on tour. I just came back from one of his shows and am devastated to find out that I was oblivious to the fact that this EP existed. I feel so stupid. Regardless, here's a picture I got from the show at The Orange Peel in Asheville!

Thanks!

Every day in the US, five infants and/or children are surgically operated upon to alter the appearance of their genitalia.
There is zero evidence that these alterations are medically or psychologically beneficial to the child.

Okay so I went to the show on Monday in DC and went with two friends. One of of them said that based off the Blender Article Conor left Bright Eyes for good. Thats not true is it? I mean I read the article but that does not spell out anywhere that he is gone for good.

welp, i done been in the hospital.
i got a lot of vaccines and they crashed my immune system. i wanted desperately to rub obama's win in to the many faces of people i go to school with, i couldnt, cause of said hospital.
i'm out now, and now i say DO NOT HAIL TWILIGHT!!!!!!
i mean i realize all y'all dont know what twilight is but it's basically crack
like bad for you, and addictive.
the most POORLY WRITTEN SHIT ever. but addictive. i swear the author doesnt know her ass from her pen but whatever, i love it.
still. the author is mormon, and the fucking church of the latter day saints is responsible for twenty five, 25, TWENTY FIVE percent of the funding towards proposition 8. if i didnt hate stephenie meyer before, i hate her now.
fuck mormons. fuck them. and fuck black america for not being able to get over their homophobia. i realize that prop 8 could never be the fault of black america because the make up a minority of californian voters, but still fuck that. it's called community, and in the same way that the civil rights movement would have worked faster if white people had stood up for what they thought was right, black people should stand the fuck up for what is right. or wait, am i wrong? is homophobia somehow NOT like racism? is hating people for what they ARE somehow NOT WRONG?
i am so saddened by prop 8 passing. i feel like we've come so far with obama's victory. and yet we've stepped back a few footprints.
i mean women have had to earn the right to vote and african americans have had to earn the right to vote and i feel like if gay people were easily identified by some outward sign they would still be fighting. women have tits and black people have dark skin so they had to fight based on physical difference. if gay people had a distinguishing characteristic i'm sure they would not be out of the battle. it sickens me that gay people, who teach our children, who fight our legal battles, who diagnose our illnesses, who do EVERYTHING in EVERY SECTOR of american society are still fighting for the right to have ordinary rights.
do you hear that, livejournal? gay people are still fighting for the right to have ORDINARY RIGHTS.
they are still paying taxes, just like EVERY AMERICAN CITIZEN, and yet they are denied the rights of every american citizen. why are gay people still paying taxes and still acting like america is rewarding them? they shouldnt. listen, glbt community, stop paying taxes, if the american government refuses to treat you like real citizens, stop acting like them, let's see how far that gets america.
i'm stoked that we picked obama. but for fucks sake we're the worst first world country anyone ever heard of. let's have plenty of money to fund a war and buy out basically everything but none for health care. let's have the ideal that all men are created equal, unless they're gay.
bullshit. america, you're full of shit.
for anyone who supports the church of latter day saints, fuck you. for anyone who understands that you have to BE the change you want to SEE but stands by while their family talks shit about difference, fuck you.
i'm glad i dont talk to my dad's family. and i know i'm a hypocrite, you cant escape it, but i TRY not to be. and i'm TRYING to be better.
support what you believe in. intolerance of intolerance doesnt make you intolerant, it makes you smart.

| Pendleton clothing |
[14 Nov 2008|10:01am] |
Last night, at a bar, I was hit on by someone whose first opening line was, "Is that a Pendleton?" He was pointing at my jacket.
Later I looked up what the heck he was even talking about, and now I'll share it with you all!
A woolen mills company, Pendleton became famous at the turn of the 20th century for clothing, quite literally, lumberjacks and huntsmen of the USA. A fifth generation owned family business, they were founded in Oregon and is still in operation today. They distribute to China, Japan, and Canada. There are seven factories in operation in the USA where they practice "vertical" manufacturing, which loosely means "...controlling wool manufacturing from purchasing of wool from wool producers to the selling of the finished garment or blanket/home product."

Last nights show in Richmond was one of the best I've been to. Conor seemed like he was in a good state of mind, possibly because of the Miller Lite. "I Don't Want To Die" was their last song of the night and Ben Kweller came back on stage to sing with the band. When the "help me get my boots on" part came, Conor and Ben took their boots and socks off and started dancing around on stage. Conor then took the mic chord and started jumping rope with it. He unbuttoned his shirt and did more dancing on stage with Ben. Needless to say, the last song along with the rest of the show was quite amazing.
